EDD 2015 “BUSINESS AND HUMAN RIGHTS”

AVSI Foundation jointly with the University of Rome Tor Vergata, and Mazars, international professional services firm, organized a lab at European Development Days 2015 in Brussels, Europe’s leading forum on development and international cooperation. The lab was the presentation of the first uniquely practical tool to help companies meet the regulatory imperative for more and better human rights reporting.

BANKS AND HUMAN RIGHTS: PATHWAYS TO COMPLIANCE

The Expert Group adopted a multi disciplinary approach, examining traditional legal problems such as the nature and hierarchy of sources and the scope of national jurisdictions, together with the economic problem of evaluating reputational risks. Moreover some key classical juridical problems – such as complicity – were dealt with through a more inclusive approach, aimed at enlightening the challenging relationships between law and ethics, in an attempt to define the dimension of bank responsibility for violations eventually committed by their clients or business partners.
